The gathering began symbolically, at 12:44 pm. We, Canadians, pay taxes to a country that has betrayed the Serbian Canadian community and that has violated international law, most directly UN SC Resolution 1244! The Government will NOT get a pass this time! Our voices will be heard! Kosovo is Serbia! GUEST SPEAKERS: SCOTT TAYLOR from TORONTO and JAMES BISSETT from OTTAWA 11th - Discussion Forum with Scott Taylor and James Bissett Canada's Recognition of the Unilateral Secession of Kosovo: Creating a Dangerous Precedent for Quebec When: Friday, April 11, 2008 Time: 7:00pm Location: 1900 Fletcher Challenge Theatre, SFU Harbor Centre Street: 515 West Hastings Street A major security issue facing the world in 2008 is the future of the Serbian province of Kosovo, where Albanian leaders illegally declared unilateral secession on February 17. By recognizing the illegal secession, the Canadian government chose to not uphold the rule of law, by breaching the United Nations Charter, UNSC Resolution 1244, the Final Helsinki Act of 1975, and the Westphalian principles that still retain their validity after almost four centuries. 4th and 5th - Tesla: an Evening with Genius In Tesla: An Evening with Genius, actor Frank Tabitta presented a rare and spellbinding portrait of the unsung hero of the modern electronic world. Where: Vancouver East Cultural Centre, 1895 Venables Street When: Apr 4th and 5th, 2008 8:00 pm In spite of opposition from corporate profiteers, Nikola Tesla, with over 100 US Patents to his credit, laid the electrical foundations on which the world still stands. At this point in the history of energy, it is more important than ever that the story of Nikola Tesla be told. With this production, authors J. Michael Newlight and Frank Tabbita help set the historical record straight concerning the visionary who brought the world such gifts as alternating current electricity and radio. The play encapsulates the meteoric rise and tragic fall of world system of wireless power was decades ahead of its time. Tabbita's performance deftly leads the audience through the complex history of this extraordinary man's struggle to help humanity through technological invention. The event was hosted by the Serbian-Canadian Society of Vancouver, with special thanks to the sponsors: Ministry of Dijaspora of the Republic of Serbia , Consulate of the Republic of Serbia in Vancouver , Serbian Unity Congress , Columbia Medical Clinic , Solaway Travel , DIBIT , Metro Travel and Tours , Yale Pharmacy , St. Archangel Michail Church. February 2008 24th - Vancouver Protest: Canada: Do NOT Recognize Illegal Partition of Serbia Time: 1:30pm - 3:00pm Location: Vancouver Art Gallery (on the side of Robson street) Street: 750 Hornby Street, Downtown The decision of the monoethnic Kosovo Provisional Authorities (KPA) in the UN-administered province of Serbia to declare unilateral independence is illegal and illegitimate. This act is in direct contravention to the United Nations Charter, the OSCE Helsinki Final Act of 1975 and UN Security Council Resolution 1244, and it has been rejected outright by the government of the parent state of Serbia as null and void. 17th - Vancouver Protest: Say NO to Kosovo independence Time: 1:00pm - 3:00pm Location: In front of the Vancouver Art Gallery Street: 750 Hornby Street, Downtown |
